Problem: GMail does not let you upload attachments in Chrome and Firefox. Error Message: English: Attachment failed. German: Anhang fehlgeschlagen. Polish: Dodawanie załącznika nie powiodło się. Root Cause: Google Toolbar uses Flash to talk to native Windows API when displaying the progress bar during attachment uploads. If you put your Internet Explorer to offline mode some parts of the Windows Explorer's API are unavailable. The progress bar can't be displayed and this will result in "Attachment failed" error message. Fix: Go to Internet Explorer and uncheck the "Offline mode". Alternatively, remove Google Toolbar. | Labels: Chrome, Firefox, gmail, WinXP | |

Since the problem is in Firefox, why would do anything to Internet Explorer help?
Hi Hume - Please read the "Root cause".
thnx for the help. This fixed my firefox attachment problem.
I was getting the same problem in Firefox.
I removed my newly setup proxy settings in IE and all is working.
Thanks! Fixed it for me! I would have NEVER figured that out without your help!
THX! your advice was right. now firefox and gmail do their work again. many thx's!
I discovered another fix. I found IE went offline even when "Work Offline" was unchecked. I hadn't set LAN settings to "Automatic configuration." Doing so (Internet Options/Connections/LAN Settings) solved the Firefox problem.
"Styles" solution worked for me. its like below
